Coventry Sphinx have welcomed Sharon Taylor into the Sphinx family as the new Commercial Manager.

Sharon said “It’s a privilege to be asked to work with such a committed team of people at an ambitious club. From the moment I attended my first game I knew that I would be supporting them for a long time. They have helped to re-ignite my love for football after I made the decision to not follow Coventry City FC to Northampton. I’d held a season ticket for CCFC since 1987 but Sphinx have more than filled the void.”

Dannie Cahill, Club Chairman commented that he and the rest of the Board are truly delighted to have Sharon on board as part of the Sphinx family. She is a committed professional who has the club interests in her heart already... To be successful in the commercial world you need to have passion for what you are promoting and she certainly has that in abundance. I’m sure this appointment will pay dividends for the long term future of the club. People such as Sharon don't come along everyday and we have I'm sure a star on our hands. We of course wish her all the success.

Sharon has been part of a 110% increase in attendances at Sphinx Drive this season and manager Luke Hopkins is aiming to improve on the success on the field next season in both in the league and world famous FA Cup. Sharon said “I’m keen to ensure that local businesses can be part of the Sphinx success story. With more people showing an interest in the club and coming through the gates there are more opportunities for our sponsors to increase their exposure to local customers.

Sphinx Sports Ground on Siddeley Avenue is a community asset with the pitches being used daily for the junior, youth and senior Sphinx sides. During the close season it’s used by the Coventry Jets American Football team as well as being the venue for childrens football coaching with Soccerrockz.

Sponsors won’t just be getting attention during the nine months of the football season, any pitchside or stand advertising will be seen by thousands of visitors throughout the year.”

“Every penny coming into the club, whether that be through sponsorship, gate receipts or through the bar or cafe is reinvested in the club. With the income received this season Sphinx have been able to add a turnstile, increase the hard standing around the pitch and have just taken delivery of the materials to improve the viewing areas behind the goal. All of these improvements will help towards the ground requirements of step 4 football.”

Sharon has a background in event management and marketing gained while working for two of the largest employers in the City. In her 10 years at Coventry University she worked in undergraduate recruitment and organised Open Days for potential students. “It was important to show the benefits of studying the course and studying in Coventry as a City. It was easy for me, I was born and brought up here. I love this City and love being a Coventrian.” She is now working for Coventry City Council and has been involved in organising events and running a marketing campaign for training facilities.

There are a number of sponsorship and advertising opportunities available. Sharon will be happy to talk you though the options. Contact her by email at sharon@coventrysphinx.co.uk
