Port Vale manager Robert Page has said that sometimes football can be a cruel game after his side went down to a 1-0 defeat against Coventry City at the Ricoh Arena.
Speaking after the loss to the Press Association, Page, himself a former City player, said: "We set up to attack straight away and we were outstanding in the first half . Coventry are where they are because they are so consistent so when you come to places like this the chances are limited and you have to take them - but we didn't.
"They have scored a goal from 25 yards and it is a bitter pill to swallow. I would rather have won ugly at this stage as December has been a bit indifferent for us.
"I don't think there is one player who has let us down today. Sometimes it is a cruel game sometimes you can play well and get nothing. We have played far worse this season and won."
