Slade: The Fans Were Magnificent

Russell Slade paid tribute to the 529 Coventry City supporters who were at the Abax Stadium to see the Sky Blues pegged back to a 1-1 draw.

The City support in the Main Stand, gave City Chairman Tim Fisher, who was sat in the next block with police officers close to hand, their full wrath but there was even more support for the players on the pitch and for manager Russell Slade with plenty of "Russell Slade Sky Blue Army" chants, something which Mark Venus who preceeded Slade never once had.

Slade waved to the City support a number of times during the game and told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire: “The fans were magnificent and I’m sorry we haven’t got them that vital win on the road because there’s been many a journey they’ve had this season which has ended in disappointment.

“Some of them I’m sure will be disappointed today but hopefully they’ll take heart from the performance and the fact that the team did their best.”
