BSKYB are to lose their monopoly on screening live Premier and Football League matches after 2007. Under a deal between the European Union and Premier League, matches will be lumped into six packages to allow different broadcasters to bid. Sky have been told that they cannot bid for all six packages.

European Competitions Commissioner Neelie Kros said: "The commitments offered by the Premier League should ensure that the media rights are sold in a fair and transparent manner."
