WHO ARE THEY?
Formed in 1886 although there was a team in the Shropshire town ten years earlier which won the Birmingham Senior Cup. Within five years of formation,the Shrews had won the Welsh Cup, a cup they won on six occasions - the last being in 1985.

Twice Division 3 winners,Shrewsbury twice finished in their highest league placing of 8th in Division Two in 1983-84 & 84-85. In May 2003,they lost their place in the Football League but won the Conference Play-Off to get back into the League. Last season,they were beaten in the League Two Play-Off Final by Bristol Rovers.

Shrewsbury were in the first team to play at Highfield Road in September 1899.

LAST MATCH
City's last competitve game at Shrewsbury was a 0-0 draw on October 30th 1963. in a Third Division fixture. A month later,City won the return game at Highfield Road 8-1. The last time the two sides met, City lost a friendly at Gay Meadow on August 6th 1985.

Kick off is at 7.45pm. This match is all ticket. Ticket prices are £12 adults and concessions £8 (children/students/OAPS/disabled). Tickets are available from City's ticket offices and you can get one on the gate.

The Sky Blue Trust are running a coach to the game. It leaves Coventry Sports Centre at 5pm. £6 members/£8 non members. More details can be obtained from 07963 953 497 after 5pm on Weekdays and before 7pm at weekends.

HOW TO GET THERE

Directions
At the end of the M54 continue onto the A5. After about seven miles, there is a traffic island which is at the junction with the A49. Bear left at this island still following the A5. On reaching Shrewsbury ignore the signs for Shrewsbury Town Centre (signposted A5064 town centre/crematorium), at the first roundabout you come to, but instead continue along the A5. Then go straight across at the next roundabout, still on the A5 and then at the next roundabout turn right towards Shrewsbury on the A5112 (sign posted town centre/park & ride). You will pass a Retail Park on your right and then at the next roundabout you take the 4th exit onto the B4380 towards Oteley (also sign posted golf course). The stadium is a short way down this road on the right, just as you go over the railway bridge.

There is a large car park at the stadium. However, this is for permit holders only and street parking is prohibited in the nearby residential area and retail park. The Club will operate a number of Park & Ride schemes on matchdays at a cost of £5 per car, starting at 12.30pm on Saturdays & 5.30pm for evening matches. These operate from various locations including Shire Hall & Shrewsbury Business Park. These park & ride schemes are located near to the A5, just take the A5064 towards the town centre from the A5.

Emstrey Park & Ride Site and the Park And Ride site at Shrewbury Business Park is Not available for the Coventry City game .

Shrewsbury train station is around two miles away from the stadium. So it should take around 25 minutes to walk. Otherwise you can grab a taxi up to the ground, or take a bus from the town centre bus station (service numbers 16, 23, 25 & 544/546 all stop near to the stadium). There are also plans to introduce a dedicated bus service on matchdays. Shrewsbury train station is served by trains from Birmingham New Street & Crewe.
