Coventry City arrived in Portland after a fifteen hour flight from Heathrow for the first game of their two match USA trip. The players had a full training session before attending a baseball game at PGE Park which will stage City's game with Portland Timbers tomorrow. Kick off is at 7pm local time (3am Sunday UK time).
Sky Blues Arrive Stateside
Andy Marshall is expected to make his debut in goal for the Sky Blues who will have City U18's keeper Cameron Belford on the bench. The rest of the new signings should also get a run-out. After the game both sides will be attending a meet and greet session at Kells Irish Pub in Portland. Portland have lost their last to USL games.
Portland Timbers keeper Bayard Elfivin told his club's website: "Any time you get to play a team like this, it's a great experience; it adds a lot of excitement to the season,
“The second it was put on the schedule, all of us on the team have been looking forward to this game, so we're all very excited.
“It's real important for us to come out and play well and get our confidence back. “It's an exhibition game, but at the same time, to have all these people come out, we want to show that we can play, too.
“With the English style you see a lot of attacking, long balls … a very physical, tough game, which is sometimes difficult on this surface because it's very fast. So it will be interesting to see how they adjust their game to the playing conditions here at PGE Park.”
