Simpson Bid Blocked

Iain Dowie has ben thwarted in an attempt to sign Coventry City striker Robbie Simpson.

The former City manager, now at Queen Park Rangers, had been lining up a bid for Simpson who cost City £40,000 last season from Cambridge United.

But QPR owner Fkavio Briatore has put a block on Dowie whose days at Loftus Road could be numbered.

Dowie has denied that he could be out of a job shortly and a £1m pay-off saying: "People will always make mischief."
