Simpson - A Dream Come True

Robbie Simpson has said that he is excited about his move to Coventry City and the prospect of playing Championship football.

The striker signed for £40,000 rising to £130,000 after scoring seventeen goals in thirty matches for the Conference side last season told the Club Website; "It's like a dream come true," says Robbie. "All I've ever wanted to do since I was a youngster is be a footballer and now I'm living the dream and relishing the challenge.

"It sank in on the first day when I was sitting in the changing rooms at the training ground. I looked at my own kit with the Coventry City badge and there was Arjan De Zeeuw sitting next to me!"

Simpson or Lisa as he has been nicknamed will graduate from Loughborugh University on Monday with a 2.1 in Sports Science and mathematics added; "I first found out about Coventry's interest in April and from then on it came about reasonably quickly. "But before anything, I had to finish my exams at university as I've studied really hard for my degree while playing for Cambridge.

"But as soon as they were out of the way I came in and signed. I've found the training much more difficult since, I did pre-season full-time last season but it's much more demanding and more professional, which is brilliant to be part of."

"But, for the time being, my only target is to just get in the team, that's all I'm thinking about. I'm a confident lad and think I can do a job in whatever system the manager wants me to play.

"I'm a striker who can play both as a main striker and in a supporting role. I'm pretty quick and fairly strong so hopefully I can make enough of an impression over pre-season to give the manager something to think about when the first league game comes along."
