Former Coventry City striker Marlon King has had his contract terminated by Sheffield United, according to reports.

King joined The Blades at the start of the season and has not been a regular in the United side, since Nigel Clough was appointed as a replacement for David Weir.

A short statement on the Blades website reads: "Sheffield United have agreed a contract settlement with Marlon King, who will be leaving the club with immediate effect.

"The striker is free to assess his options in the January transfer window and leaves with the club's best wishes."
