Barnett appeared as a second half substitute for the Sky Blues last night at Swansea and will return to The Hawthorns in the next couple of days when his loan expires.
City boss Chris Coleman has expressed his interest in signing the defender but now it seems Kevin Blackwell could hijack the deal and take him to Brammal Lane for more money.
Barnett has had ten starts for City before last night's match.
