Following his departure from Millwall last week, former Coventry City  defender Richard Shaw looks set to return to his former club as Andy Thorn's new assistant manager.

The 43 year old Shaw had reportedly been sacked by Millwall two months ago, but the news was only made public last week.

Shaw  made 317 appearances for the Sky Blues during his playing career and he has played with Thorn while the pair were at Crystal Palace during the late 1980's and early 1990's.

Shaw joined Coventry City in 1995 where he quickly became a fans favourite. After more than a decade at the club, he left to join Millwall as a player, but moved into a coaching role at the end of his playing career. He was briefly caretaker manager at The New Den until Kenny Jackett was appointed.
