Scott Dann On The Scoresheet

Former Coventry City defender Scott Dann was on the scoresheet as the Premier League got underway this afternoon.

Dann scored in the 77th minute for Birmingham City as they came from two goals down to snatch a 2-2 draw at Sunderland.

Caretaker manager and former Sky Blue Kevin MacDonald was in charge of Aston Villa's 3-0 victory over West Ham whilst Coventrian Ian Evatt was booked for Blackpool in their 4-0 win at Wigan Athletic. Chelsea top the table following a 6-0 win over West Brom at Stamford Bridge.

Coventry City are third in the Championship following their 2-2 draw at Watford for whom City old boy John Eustace scored.

Sheffield United became the second Championship club of the season to need a new manager when they sacked or let Kevin Blackwell leave by mutual consent after a 3-0 defeat at QPR. The West London side are second on alpabetical order to Millwall with both sides scoring seven goals and conceding none in their opening two games.

City old boy Adam Virgo scored for Yeovil in a 2-1 defeat at Bristol Rovers whilst in League Two, Shaun Jeffers played the last twenty minutes of Cheltenham Town's 3-2 win against Crewe.

Craig Reid was denied two penalties as Newport County lost 1-0 at Darlington in their first game back in the Conference.

Ben Mackie and Andy Hall scored for Corby Town in a 2-1 Conference North win over Harrogate. In the same division, former City youth and reserve teamer Matty West scored twice for Solihull in a 2-0 home win over Blyth Spartans.

Chris Birchall played for La Galaxy in their 1-0 win at New York Red Bulls in an MSL game in New York.
