In the Championship today, Preston North End went joint top after a 1-0 win at Leicester City.

Gary McSheffrey scored for Birmingham in their 1-1 draw with Wolves whilst james Scowcroft scored for Palace in a 2-0 home win over Barnsley. There were also wins for Stoke,Southampton,Derby,Sunderland and West Brom with Southend drawing against Plymouth.

Locally, Nuneaton Borough who face a Coventry City X1 in the Brimngham Senior Cup on Tuesday were beaten 3-2 at Hyde united.

In the Southern League, Rugby Town had a good win with a 3-2 victory at Chippenham but Bedworth lost 2-0 at home to Willenhall Town.

In the FA Vase, Leamington were in good form beating Sutton Coldfield 4-0 whilst Stratford were held 1-1 at home by Tividale.

Atherstone Town drew their home Midland Alliance game with Tipton Town 1-1.

Coventry Sphinx did the double over Pilkington XXX. Having beaten the league leaders 5-1 at Sphinx Drive, Paul Charnley's side left Kings Norton with a 4-2 victory. Robbie Stevenson,Chris Harris,Wayne Pulford and Casey Caggini all netted for Sphinx.

Massey Ferguson's game with Heath Hayes was postponed. Alveston lost 6-1 at home to Meir KA and Nuneaton Griff lost 4-2 at home to Continental Star.
