In the Championship, there were wins for Derby,Sunderland,West Brom,Luton,Cardiff and QPR. The drawn games were at Hull,Stoke, and Birmingham City where Gary McSheffrey put Blues 1-0 up in the 58th minute. Elvis Hammond who scored against City Reserves last Tuesday equalised for Leicester with four minutes left.

Andy Morrell scored for Blackpool in a 3-0 win at home to Leyton Orient and Trevor Benjamin scored for Peterborough in a 1-0 win at Stockport.

Today was Cup Day for many of our local sides and all are safely through to the nexr round. In the FA Cup, Former Sky Blue youth teamer Gary McPhee hit a hat-trick for Nuneaton Borough in a 6-0 win at Oadby. Rugby Town won 3-1 at Ilkeston Town and Stratford won 2-1 at Raunds Town.

In the Midland Combination Endsleigh Challenge Cup 2nd Round, Coventry Sphinx beat Newhall United 3-0,Coventry Copsewood won 2-0 at Burntwood,Massey Ferguson beat Knowle 3-0 and Stockingford won 1-0 at Continental Star.

League games saw Bedworth United win 3-1 at Leighton Town. Leamington increase their lead at the top of the Midland Alliance with a 1-0 win over second placed Atherstone Town at the New Windmill. Former Sky Blue Ben Mackey scored the only goal of the game in the 72nd minute. Racing Club Warwick lost 2-0 at home to Tipton Town who now go second.

In the Midland Combination Premier Division, Southam beat Bolehall 1-0 at Banbury Road whilst Alveston won 3-1 at Walsall Wood. Leamington Hibernian went down 3-2 at Littleton but Coventry Sphinx Reserves had a fine victory. Lee Knibbs side won 5-1 at Enville Athletic in a Division Tow fixture.
