Qualifying for the 2008 European Championsships meant no Championship matches were played. A number of City supporters were in the crowd at Old Trafford to see England beat Andorra 5-0.

Elsewhere, former Sky Blue Stephen Pressley played for Scotland in a 6-0 victory over the Faroe Islands who left Claus Jorgensen on the bench. Gary Caldwell was also left on the bench by Walter Smith.

Coventry kid James Quinn played for Northern Ireland v Iceland in Belfast. Lawrie Sanchez's team went down to a 3-0 defeat. Wales who had Craig Bellamy in their starting line up lost 2-1 away to the Czech Republic and Steve Staunton was a loser in his first competitive match as Republic Of Ireland manager. Robbie Keane played for the Republic but they went down to a 1-0 defeat in Germany.

Last night, Jonny Tuffey was a sub not used for Northern Ireland U21 in their 3-2 defeat by Germany at Glenavon's Mourneview Ground.

In League One, keeper Gavin Ward scored for Tranmere in a 3-0 win over Leyton Orient. The former City keeper sent a longer ranger down the field,the ball was caught by the win and flew over O's custodian Glenn Morris into the net.

Locally, Rugby Town beat Team Bath 1-0 at Butlin Road in a Southern League Premier Division clash.

It was FA Cup day for our Midland Alliance sides. The biggest winners were Leamington who beat Staffordshire based Stone Dominoes 6-0. Former Sky blues Tom Cudworth,Dave Pearson and Ben Mackey all started for Leamington. In a game played at the New Windmill in blustery conditions, Brakes opened the scoring in the 41st minute through Josh Blake, quickly followed by a goal from Dave Pearson. In the second half, Ben Mackey scored a brace with Pearson and Blake both adding to their tallies in front of a crowd of 527 including four Colchester United supporters.

Other FA Cup results saw Southern League Midland Division Bedworth United win 2-1 at Alvechurch Stratford drew 2-2 at home to Bourne Town but there were defeats for Atherstone who lost 4-1 at Buxton and Racing Club Warwick defeated 3-0 at Westfields.
All three Coventry based Midland Combination Premier Divsion sides all won.

Coventry Sphinx remain unbeaten after a one-nil win at Coleshill Town. Paul Charnley's side were the better throughout but were thwarted by the home keeper Greg Allen who made a string of fine saves. The only goal of the game came in the 21st minute when Chris Harris fired home a Robbie Stevenson cross from close range. Harris,Owen,Stevenson,Woods and Covsupport sponsored Danny McSheffrey who had a fine game at centre half all had good chances saved in front of the biggest crowd of the day in the division. Sphinx play their first home game of the new season next Saturday.
Coventry Copsewood won 1-0 at Continental Star and Massey Ferguson earned their first win of the season with a 4-1 victory at Pershore Town. Elsewhere, Alveston lost 2-1 at Cadbury United and Southam United drew 3-3 at Heath Hayes.
In the First Division, Stockingford won 1-0 at Littleton but Leamington Hibernian lost 2-1 at home to Northfield Town.

In Division Two,Coventry Sphinx Reserves lost 1-0 away to Feckenham Reserves with the goal coming five minutes from time. Warwick Town drew 3-3 at home to Cadbury Reserves.
