n the Championship today,Gary McSheffrey scored for Birmingham City in a 2-0 win over Barnsley. Leamington born Richard Scimeca scored for Cardiff in their 1-0 home win over Burnley. Coventry City are down to 15th.

There were wins for Stoke,Hull,Leeds,QPR ,Norwich and next Saturday's opponents Sheffield Wednesday. Coventry City are down to 15th.
In the FA Cup 1st Round, there were only two shocks. Chesterfield were beaten 1-0 at home by Basingstoke and Rushden & Diamonds now in the Conference beat Yeovil 3-1.

Locally, Nuneaton Borough drew 1-1 at home to Blyth Spartans,but in the Southern League,Rugby were stuffed 6-2 at home by Stamford and Bedworth lost 3-2 at Brackley.

In the Midland Alliance, Former Sky Blue Tom Bates scored twice for Leamington in a 3-0 win over Rocester. The Brakes are now ten points clear at the top of the table. The local derby saw Stratford draw 1-1 at home to Atherstone and Racing Club Warwick also drew 4-4 at Friar Lane and Epworth.

In the Midland Combination Premier Division,Southam lost 4-0 at Coleshill, Alveston lost 1-0 at Pilkington and Massey Ferguson lost 1-0 at Walsall Wood.
In Division 1, Stockingford AA drew 1-1 at Mile Oak Rovers and in Division 2, Warwick Town lost 1-0 at home to Droitwich Spa.

In the Coventry Charity Cup Second Round, Coventry Sphinx won 3-1 at Alvis. Mark Owen,Dave Drennan and Chris Harris scored for Sphinx with former Sphinx striker Martin Taylor scoring for Carl Davies side.

The shock of the round saw Coventry Copsewood beaten 1-0 at Potters Green CA. Other ties saw Nuneaton Griff win 2-0 at Brooklands Jaguar and Stockton win 3-1 at Leamington Hibernian.
