In the Championship there were wins for Southampton,Ipswich,Plymouth,
Derby,Wolves. QPR and Leeds who both changed managers in midweek also won. The games at Leicester and Luton were drawn.

Locally, Nuneaton Borough drew their Conference North game 1-1 at home to Farsley Celtic. In the Southern League Prem, Rugby Town lost 1-0 at home to Yate Town but Bedworth United made short work of Midland Division newcomers Barton Rovers winning 5-1 at The Oval.

It was FA Vase day for a number of our local clubs. It was bad news for the two Coventry sides who entered. Sphinx found the gap between the Midland Combination and Midland Alliance a bit tough going and went down to a 5-1 defeat at Alvechurch whilst Coventry Copsewood lost 2-0 at home to Shawbury United. Nuneaton Griff lost 5-4 at home to Tividale after extra time and Racing Club Warwick lost 1-0 at Rainworth.

Atherstone and Stratford are through to the Third Qualifying Round though. Jimmy Ginnelly's side beat Norton United 2-1 at Sheepy Road whilst Stratford won 4-0 at Leicester based St Andrews.

In the Midland Alliance, James Husband scored for Leamington in a 1-0 win at Romulus. All the Midland Combination Premier Division matches involving teams from the CV postcode area drew. Alveston 1-1 at home to Brereton, Southam 1-1 at Feckenham and Massey Ferguson drew 2-2 at home to Walsall Wood.

In Division One, Leamington Hibernian beat Kenilworth Town 3-0 but Stockingford lost 2-1 at home to West Midlands Police.

In Division Two, Warwick Town beat Chelmsley Town 1-0 and Coventry Sphinx Reserves Jack Mould Trophy game at home to Burntwood Reserves was postponed due to Sphinx's Youth Cup tie on Thursday night which took priority.
