The currently appointed referee for Coventry City’s League One game against Crewe Alexandra is Chris Sarginson from Staffordshire.

Chris took up refereeing sixteen years ago after he had played and been a secretary of a Sunday League club. He was appointed to the Select Group of Assistant Referees in 2005 and was appointed to the National List of Referees in 2008. He cites the Sunderland v Newcastle game in 2005 as the best game he has officiated at due to the atmosphere.

His last City game was the 2-1 defeat to Swindon Town at Sixfields on April 18th 2014. The other two games he has been in charge of are the 2-1 win at Sheffield United on February 1st 2013 and the 2-1 defeat to Norwich City at the Ricoh Arena on December 18th 2010.

This season, Mr Sarginson has had 29 games (ten of which have been League One matches) and has shown 84 yellow cards and three reds.

His assistants are: Tom Nield and Peter Wright. The Fourth Official is Marvyn Amphlett
