Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray might be interested in Dominic Samuel but the former City loanee is looking to break into the Reading first team this season.

Speaking to Charles Watts of Get Reading: Samuel said: “With football you have to have confidence in yourself.

“I believe in my ability so I am confident I can take it into the Championship.

“Getting into to the first-team. That’s the aim.

“Hopefully I can take this pre-season with both hands and get into the starting XI.

Samuel is back playing again after the injury which ended his loan at Coventry and he said: “Tuesday was my second game in three and a half months.

“It went well for me and I got my goal, but there is still a lot more to come from me as I get my fitness back.

“My fitness is getting better. I’m just working hard, getting my sharpness back and getting my finishing back so hopefully it will be another good season for me.

“It’s been a good start.

“But right now I’m just taking each game as it comes. Whatever the gaffer decides I’ll just keep working hard to prove to him that I should be in the side.”
