Coventry City U18's were beaten by four goals in nine minutes from a useful Southampton side in their final home game of the season.

Brian Borrows, who leaves the club in a couple of weeks after some sterling service which included 488 games for the first team and a Academy Division title, named a strong side to start the game.

However within eight minutes of the kick off on a sunny morning at the Alan Higgs Centre, that had to be changed when Liam Robinson went to shield the ball and went over on his left leg.

The first year trainee born in Mansfield was stretchered off and will have a scan on Monday to see what is the extent of the damage.
Southampton caused problems for the City defence throughout the first half and only some superb keeping by Neil Collett to deny Jake Thomson and Lloyd James kept the game goal-less at the interval.

Iain Dowie and Frankie Bunn had gone by the time , Collett made a 51st minute point blank save from Thomson.

The City supporting keeper was finally beaten on the hour mark when Adam Lallana broke through to score.

That was the signal for the Saints to up the pace and they doubled their tally two minutes later when a ball on the left was not cleared and fell for Matthew Patterson to fire home from six yards.

Borrows went for a double change bringing on the fit again Reis Ashraf and Ashley Cain but in the 68th minute, Jake Thomson lashed the ball into the top corner from the edge of the area.

Seconds later, the defences were breached once more and Matty Patterson tapped in for Saints fourth goal.

Matty West had a couple of chances with Matega Roundes pushing over a 76th minute curler but for the second consecutive home City were well beaten.
