Rotherham striker Adam Le Fondre, Alf to his team mates, who has been the subject to an unsuccessful player plus cash bid from Coventry City, has been urged to stay at Rotherham for the foreseeable future.

Millers midfielder Danny Schofield told The Star that it is vital that Rotherham United keep the natural goalscorer who is now their key player.

Schofield said, “It is vital we keep Alf because he is a key player for us. He is a natural goal-scorer and proven in League Two. Eventually, he will play at a higher level but hopefully we can hang on to him and he can play a big part in our promotion bid."

“Alf is a good player and a natural finisher and when he is given a chance, more often than not, he will put it in the back of the net.”
