Coventry City will sign Rod McDonald on a two year deal on July 1st.
The Sky Blues have paid an undisclosed fee for the 25 year old defender who has been at Man City and Stoke City's Academy and played for Oldham Athletic, Hereford and AFC Telford.
McDonald has joined from Northampton Town for whom he made 39 appearances and speaking about his thrd close season signing, Mark Robins told City's club website: “I am delighted we have signed Rod, who is a player who was interesting a number of clubs.
“Having met him and spoken with him about our plans, he made his mind up quickly that Coventry City was the Club he wanted to join.
“I’m really looking forward to working with Rod. He is a quick, strong and aggressive centre half, who can also read the game well.
“Rod is still fairly young and has great potential but still has experience at this level, having won promotion at Northampton.
"We are looking to add further to the squad in the coming days."
