"Everybody grew in confidence, you could see it. In the first half, you could see the difference between the two teams. You look at it and think that we still have a bit to go, which we still do to get to that level.
"Jonno [Jonson Clarke-Harris] has run his socks off and put them under pressure, as well as Conor [Chaplin] but they were a little bit isolated.
"Then you get a lift with the pace and the strength of [Amadou] Bakayoko. [Jordy] Hiwula's contribution was brilliant when he came on.
"This is one step. To come here and win the game against Charlton is a big step forward, but by no means did we run away with it - You could say it was a bit of a smash and grab, and I will take that because we stayed in the game.
"But we have still got work to do with them to make it more of a regular occurrence to get those sorts of performances from people. But that should give everybody the belief.
"As soon as we scored that goal you saw [Jordan] Willis come to the fore, you saw [Lee] Burge come to the fore, you saw Tom Davies winning the ball and going through people and you saw them [Charlton Athletic] take a step back which was fantastic.
"We have got to learn from it. It is a mental game as well as a technical, tactical game. I am really, really pleased. It is a great result."
