Coventry City manager Mark Robins said that Oxford United were better than his side after the 2-0 Carabao Cup First Round exit at the Kassam Stadium.

Robins told the media:“They were better than us. We didn’t create enough, we didn’t move the ball well enough. They worked really hard. They worked to stop us from playing and they have players who have a little bit better knowhow,” he said.

“You look at the way they use their body to roll us off, the way they stopped our strikers moving, and the way that they held onto the strikers.

“It wasn’t penalised by the referee, it was within the laws to a degree, but they were better than us, and they had two chances and got two goals and we had two goals disallowed.

"But, you know, Ive got no complaints about the scoreline.

“I think there’s disappointment, but we just looked off them. We looked again that we weren’t ready for that game and that’s something I don’t want to be repeating too often, so I think that they were sharper to it.

“I think a little bit more streetwise and had a little bit more quality, during the game.

“Having said that, we put some decent moves together when we got a little bit of confidence. I think one or two are just suffering with a lack of confidence at the minute, but it’s very early days.

“You don’t want to be going goals down and having to come back, but having said that, you’re right, the changes that were made made a difference tonight.”
