Robins Praise For City Support

Coventry City manager Mark Robins has praised the City support for the backing they gave the team during the 6-1 defeat to Arsenal.

Speaking to the CT's Andy Turner, Robins said: “They were magnificent; we had 10,000 for my first game on Saturday and most of them have followed us here so we must be doing something right!”

“I can’t be hyper-critical because that’s what can happen when you’re playing one of the best sides in Europe – and that’s what they are, whatever side they put out.

“We had a dilemma because you either try to shut up shop or try to pass the ball and that’s what I wanted to do because we didn’t do it on Saturday.

“Tonight we’ve proved that we can do that and create chances against a top side in an incredible atmosphere.

"Most of my players hadn’t seen the Emirates, let alone play here, and they’ve got to take something from that.

“We did our best but we had no answer when they made a triple substitution for the last 20 minutes; we just ran out of legs and started to make mistakes because when you’re up against players like Theo Walcott you can’t afford to give him a yard.

“Fortunately we won’t have to cope with that sort of thing too often; there are some good teams in League One, but nothing like that one”
