Coventry City Manager Mark Robins admitted his delight as the Sky Blues marched into the JPT Area Final with a 3-2 win over Preston North End.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Robins said: "This is what we set out to achieve at the start of the night.

"I'm pleased. I think you can still hear the supporters singing outside so you can hear what it means to them.

"Wasn't a great game by any stretch of the imagination. I think Preston deserve a lot of credit for putting us under pressure. We took the lead.and we didn't cope with them at times in the air, we know you have to be a threat, a physical match for them. We said that and spoke about that before the game, we weren't and then one or two things, one or two tweaks and changes just gave us a little bit more impetus. We ended up going long which we don't like but also you are trying to stay in a cup tie. We managed not only to stay in it but nick a goal at the end which was a fantastic feeling that's for sure.

"We always think we can score a goal and when we passed it tonight, we started to create one or two openings but I'll take the win and look forward to the two legged final.
