Coventry City manager Mark Robins has given his view on Twitter.

One of his players Jordan Clarke received an amount of abuse including some which certainly passed the boundary of decent taste earlier this week and speaking about Twitter to the CT, Robins said: “We have to spend a lot of time talking about tweets instead of doing our job.

“Social media has its place and generally it’s good fun for people, keeps them in contact with each other and can keep you updated and informed about the news.

“For the normal man and woman in the street it’s a chance to be in touch with famous people and celebrities which seems to be the culture these days, but it’s a forum that gets highlighted to the nth degree.

“Of late there’s been a lot of negatives in the media surrounding racist comments and remarks and when somebody oversteps the line they need to be brought back into line.

“There are precedents being set for people being punished for writing ridiculous things.”
