Robins - Not Enough Fight

Coventry City manager Mark Robins has said that there was not enough fight from his team during the 2-0 defeat to Morecambe.

City went into the game at the Globe Arena in the play-off places with Morecambe fourth from bottom but it looked the other way round as City were made to look second best.

A furious Mark Robins told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire: “The first thing you have to do is fight and battle and I didn’t see enough of that. We were way off them for a start, so we didn’t work hard enough from the front - any of the positions there - which meant we had to drop deeper and gave them space and time on the ball because the gaps become too big.

“They found it too easy, got out down th left in the first half. That stopped after the break because of the changes we made but we didn’t make enough inroads to scoring a goal ourselves.

“If you’re not playing well you have to work hard and put them under pressure until you get those chances. We hit the post but the overall game we were nowhere near our level and certainly not reflective of a team of mine and the way I want them to play.

“Confidence will be low now because we have had a conversation to point out that that was absolutely nowhere near good enough.

It’s the first time and it will be the last as well. That was totally unforgivable. We are better than that. I think we have got good players but we certainly haven’t shown it today.

“And they have got to make that the last performance of that type because we just haven’t done enough of the right things today.

“I could talk about a load of things as to why it hasn’t gone well today. i know exactly what it is.

“We have got a midfield that have got to gell and work together because it’s difficult. Certainly without Kelly it makes it a different game for us away from home.”
