Robins - A Lot More To Come From Leon Clarke

Coventry City manager Mark Robins feels that there is a lot more to come from Leon Clarke.

The striker scored twice in the win at Sheffield United on Tuesday but answering a supporters question at yesterday's press conference, City boss Mark Robins said: "It would be really nice if we could maybe get a hat-trick every game! He’s doing terrific and I think he’s getting better but there’s still more to come.

"There’s a really good player in there and I think he realises that more now than he did when he was younger.

"He’s a good lad but one of those lads that you’ve got to try to understand and give him what he needs. He knows he’s got to push and in fairness he has done.

"We’ve changed slightly since he arrived because players on the ball know that there’s an outlet – if we need to put the ball up to him, he wins he’s fair share.

"He’s good at pinning defenders and laying the ball off with that one/two-touch thing, his movement’s good and he can finish. At this level he’s one of the best, as his tally for this season shows.

"The trick with Leon – and all players come to that – is that they’ve got to be as up for Carlisle away as you are in front of 60,000 people at the Emirates.

"You want people who love playing, and playing in the way that we do – and generally that’s what we’re seeing now."
