"Ring Of Steel" To Protect Pitch

Coventry City will be waging war against their supporters on Saturday by using a "ring of steel" to protect the Highfield Road pitch.

Concerned about possible pitch invasions after the final home game against Derby on Saturday, and damage to the pitch and stadium, the club will be using its stewards as well as police officers in riot gear, to stop anyone getting onto the hallowed turf.

Covsupport News Service understands that an outer ring of stewards and police will block off the pitch perimeter with a smaller inner ring protecting the centre circle.
