Ricoh Don't Mean Anything To Us

Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to get in touch so far regarding a name that we can all know the Arena by.

Coventry City are getting none of the £10m deal from the naming deal with Ricoh and the fact that this Japanese company with it's Dutch HQ believes they are putting their name to a concert venue likely to attract David Bowie and Kyle Minogue, rather than the venue where our football team will be playing next season.

Based on this and that the only link Ricoh has with the city of Coventry is a deal with the City council to provide office equipment, we fail to see why we (and many of you, according to the size of our inbox) should give this company any publicity by mentioning their name in conjunction with the Arena.

The amount of mentions, Ricoh are likely to get is limitless. In fact, every time, CCFC are mentioned it is like that the name of Ricoh will crop up. However, like pressure from Southampton supporters to get the name of their ground known as St Mary's, if we are loud enough then it is certainly achieveable.

That is unless, they wish to fund to the same amount as they paid for the Arena name and a) provide Micky Adams with money for players and/or b) fund the Academy, Reserves and Ladies/girls teams plus the Sky Blue Trust and other supporters clubs/groups.

This seems unlikely, so keep your suggestions for an alternative name coming.

Next week and in conjunction with the other City supporting websites and forums,we will be hosting a vote of the best suggestions.
