Former Coventry City defender Sam Ricketts has become the new manager of Shrewsbury Town.
Ricketts has been managing Wrexham and was incharge for 22 league games before Shresbury, seeking a replacement for John Askey, came and triggered certain elements in the former Wales international's contract which allowed the League One club to talk to them.
Compensation was agreed with Wrexham and Ricketts was appointed earlier today with Shrewsbury in a press statement saying: "We believe that the appointment will add to compliment the existing structure and provide stability for success in the coming months.
Ricketts will be charge of the Shrews for their game against Coventry City later this month.
