Richard Wood Joins City Former Players Association

Last updated : 02 September 2013 By CCFPA

Coventry City Former Players Association are very pleased to announce that our newest member is none other than popular Sky Blue and recent Club captain Richard Wood

Association committee member Frank Pritchard completed his successful mission to get Woody’s signature during last weekend and ‘Woody’ is pictured below signing his CCFPA ‘forms’ for Frank.

Richard came to the Ricoh from Sheffield Wednesday in November 2009 and after a successful loan spell signed for CCFC the following January. Richard became a central defensive rock for the Sky Blues and before leaving the Club when his contract ran out in July he had made well over a century of appearances for us.

Frank tracked Richard down at his latest club, Charlton Athletic at last Saturday’s home 2-1 victory at the Valley against City’s M69 rivals Leicester City. Woody has not able to play for his new club in the League so far due to injury in his Capital One Cup debut on the 27th August. However, he has already started to put down footballing roots in London after his close season move from the Ricoh in July 2013 and looks forward to making his Championship debut for the Addicks before too long.

However, Woody retains much affection for Coventry City and its supporters and, match duties permitting, will we are sure be most ready to support the Association’s future functions.  Welcome Richard!
