Results More Important Than Communication

Coventry City Vice Chairman John Clarke’s interview with the CT this morning, whereby an apology for the poor communication between the club and its supporters sort of issued, failed to address the real points.

Whilst it is understood that Mr Clarke preferred to leave the more difficult questions until Wednesday’s press conference, apologising for a lack of communication over the years is hardly going to sell match and season tickets in the coming months.

To be honest, we are sure that we all would sacrifice not getting an email or two off the club if the team was doing well.

And getting the team doing well has to be the number one priority. The standard of football which has dramatically dipped since SISU took over is one of the main reasons that season ticket and match ticket sales have sunk to the lows they are currently at.

We have freedom of choice. People do not pay out for shoddy goods in shops so why should people be expected to pay for a team which has only managed lowly league placings since SISU took and is yet again involved in a battle against relegation?

We saw with the Leeds home game that the support is there, if the team are doing well and it is high time that all efforts were concentrated on getting the team back up the division.

We don’t go to the Ricoh Arena because we like being in the stadium. We only go to see Coventry City FC perform on the pitch.

If the new board or which ever investor is coming into the club is so keen on communication then they should make it a priority to inform us as to what they will do to improve the team and provide us with evidence on the pitch in the remaining eight matches that buying a match or season ticket will be money well spent.
