Reid On Newport Scoresheet Again

Former Coventry City striker Craig Reid was on the scoresheet for Newport County in their first home Conference game for 21 years.

Reid, who joined City from Ipswich to replace Roy O'Donovan who had been thrown out of the club and scored forty goals in just over two seasons for City U18's and Reserves before he was released by Micky Adams, scored a second half penalty for Dean Holdsworth's side to earn Newport a 1-1 draw against initial league leaders Tamworth in front of a crowd of 2,217.

Former Coventry City Reserve team Michael Briscoe scored for Kidderminster in a 3-4 home defeat to Southport.

Ben Mackey scored for Corby Town in a 2-0 win at Gloucester City.

Nuneaton Town, twice led through Storer but were held to a 2-2 draw by Ilkeston Town.

Leamington went down to a 3-2 defeat at Cambridge City. Daly and Corbett were on the target for the Brakes.

Bedworth United were beaten 2-1 at The Oval by Arlesey Town. Blyth put the Greenbacks ahead in the eighth minute but Marsh 44 and a last minute penalty from Leach gave the away side the win in front of a crowd of 105.

Atherstone United led 2-1 at Leighton Town through a Weale brace but were pegged back for a 2-2 draw, whilst Rugby Town drew 0-0 at Woodford United.

In the Midland Alliance, Stratford Town won 2-0 at home to Highgate United.

Midland Combination results saw Massey Ferguson draw 0-0 at Bartley Green and Southam United beaten 1-0 at home by Pershore. In Division One, Kenilworth Town won 3-1 at Littleton.
