Peter Reid has rushed to defend two of his players after the defeat by Ipswich.

Tim Sherwood, accused by some of only being at City for a final pay day again was booed when he was cautioned and later substituted and Reid, speaking to the club website said:

'I don’t like to hear fans booing one individual player and I thought Tim had a good game. 'I can understand their frustration because results have not been good enough of late but I feel our performances have warranted better results in some games and I have never once questioned the attitude or commitment of these players – they are giving me all they can.

'You certainly cannot blame any one individual for the defeat – we win as a team and we lose as a team and booing a player isn’t going to do him any good.'

The underfire City manager also stuck up for Matthew Mills whose own goal had cost City a point saying: "There was a mistake by a young player who has done well for us. Those things happen with young players and he is just learning the game and to be fair to the kid, he has done well for us after Leacock got injured. "It’s part of his education – football is a cruel game at times but he’s been great for us."
