Raring To Go

Robert Page and Leon McKenzie have both said that they are fit and ready to play their part for Coventry City this coming season.

The club captain had his worst season last season since he joined the Sky Blues but feels that he is wanted by Iain Dowie and is ready to stake his claim once more for a regular centre half berth.

"I still feel part of his plans, definitely, until I am told otherwise," said Page to the CT, "With all the vibes I am getting and with the general feel about the place, I want to be part of it.

"The manager has brought competition in every position, not just at centre-back, but I have said all my career that I want to be at a club that has got ambition and if that means he is going to bring in players to contest in your position then so be it.

"All I can do is worry about myself and how I am going to perform. "I cannot be worrying about whether he is going to play whoever instead of me. "The only person you can effect is yourself and I am looking forward to the challenge, which is a big challenge, because he has bought centre-halves in and good ones at that, and you just have to get on with it.."

Leon McKenzie is also waiting for the season to properly start and feels that having settled into the club, he can have a major impact. "I am feeling good," said the striker signed from Norwich eleven months ago to the CT. "It is different for me this year. "I feel I had an OK season last year with a little settling in period and playing a lot on the left, which took a bit of adjusting to and I got a few goals.

"But I think me and the gaffer have got a little bit better understanding and he's got that respect now and I have come back spot on really. "I have been sharp in training and I feel good and smooth.
"I am making good runs and holding it up well, so I am excited to be honest because we have got a great squad.

"I am doing everything I can and I am feeling confident so the manager has got a hard job making a decision and I will take whatever he decides to do.

"We have got a lot of combinations and it is a long season, so I am sure all of us will be used and I would just like to feature in more games than not. "I have got my targets in my head and hopefully I can achieve those.
