Coventry City Chairman Ray Ranson has been talking about season tickets and the losses made by the club which were announced to shareholders on Saturday.

Speaking to the club's e-zine, Mr Ranson said: "We are reaching the final run in to the season and are within touching distance of the top half of the table, which is the benchmark of progress we laid down at the start of the season.

I think there is acceptance among supporters that we are trying to build over the long term and doing it in a sustainable and strategic way - by buying players of a certain age and style.

I am delighted to see that we have already sold 1,000 season tickets for the next campaign and - obviously - we are hoping that figure will continue to grow.

The other day I went down to the ticket office to see the work in progress and to chat to supporters and was lifted by the anticipation that is already in the air.

Many of you will have seen the story in the media about our losses. I must stress that the figure quoted was up until May 2008 and was symptomatic of the agreements and contract already in place when we acquired the club in January.

As everyone knows, we have eradicated the major creditors that previously existed but reducing the annual losses will obviously take time. We are working towards that aim and there have been significant savings both in terms of efficiencies and cost, but these things do take time.

There has been a great deal of speculation about the football club exercising its right to repurchase our share of the Ricoh Arena.

Obviously that is something which very much interests us, but our shorter term priority is to strengthen the team and the squad to build attendances, which in turn builds our revenue.

We have a long trip on Saturday quickly followed by the home game with Charlton. It is amazing how quickly the end of the season comes around and you can rest assured that we want to finish with a flourish."
