Coventry City Chairman Ray Ranson has said that he has been to Germany, France,Belgium and Portugal meeting with clubs to try and set up player exchanges and joint operations.

"We feel there will be a definite advantage in having links with clubs outside our league structure," said Mr Ranson to the CT.

"Many of them have thriving academies producing very good players, many of whom have ambitions to play in the UK, something we might be able to help them to achieve.

"The links will purely be on the playing side not the commercial but we feel it is something worth persuing.

"It is not a major objective but while I am travelling through Europe I am setting up meetings with clubs and the idea has been well received by all parties.

"Hopefully, we will firm up these plans in the coming year."
