Ranson On End Of The Season

Coventry City Chairman Ray Ranson has been talking about the end of the season.

Speaking to the Sky Blue eNews, Mr Ranson said: "The end of the season is fast approaching and it is at this time that people begin to reflect on the past nine or ten months.

From my point of view, we have made progress this season and there has been a great deal of transition on and off the pitch.

We've invested heavily in the training ground - something which needed immediate attention - and we've done the same with the team.

We inherited a huge playing squad and the sheer number of players we had was having a detrimental effect because there were too many of them who were actually nowhere near the first team.

So we've worked hard to reduce the age and size of the squad. We believe the players we have brought in have put us well on the way to doing that and we will look to do the same again in the next transfer window.

Of course, we all want our progress to be faster but I think if you look at clubs such as Wolves - who have just been promoted - and Cardiff, it shows that sometimes it is a slow burn towards success.

It is my job to ensure we get there as quickly as possible but at the same time making sure we run the club in the right way to make sure it does not find itself in the position it was when we took over.

To that end, we do need your support and are very grateful for your loyalty in what have been very difficult economic times this season.

That's why we have kept our season ticket prices down, particularly during the Early Bird period which lasts until May 24. The early sales have been very positive and it would be great to see you all again at the Ricoh Arena next season."
