Ranson Issues Statement

Ray Ranson has issued this statement via the club's website:

Dear Supporters.

No doubt most of you will have heard or read the brief statement the Club released yesterday morning regarding the departure of Iain Dowie.

A decision to change a manager at any stage of the season can never be taken lightly. However, our decision yesterday was very much based on the direction that we feel Coventry City must move in.

As you all know, SISU and I acquired a majority share in the Club with less than 30 minutes to spare before administration was the only option to face.

The weeks following our takeover have brought financial stability to Coventry City, which ensures a firm foundation on which to build. With the financial future of the Club secured, my attention has been fully focussed on our footballing future for many weeks.

In the transfer window, we spent over £1-million securing the services of two of the best young players outside the Premiership in Scott Dann and Danny Fox. During this time, I spoke with Iain Dowie on a regular basis on all aspects relating to football matters.

As is sometimes the case, we did not share the same ideals for the Club and I felt that to move Coventry City forward towards a more progressive and modern way of operating, I would need a different style of first-team management here.

Although Iain, Tim and I only worked together for a short period, I would like to place on record my thanks for their work. My complete attention must now be to identify the right person to take our first team football activities forward and to deliver our fans' expectations.

I have set no timescales to deliver the right manager or coach, but rest assured that I will be exploring every opportunity to ensure Coventry City can progress and deliver stability both on the pitch as well as off it.

Your support will never be taken for granted or underestimated and I will always keep in mind the importance of our fans.

Thank you

Ray Ranson
