Ranson Has His Say On Tabb

Coventry City Chairman Ray Ranson has hit back at Jay Tabb after the midfielder departed to Reading on Monday.

In a club eNews bulletin to supporters, Mr Ranson said: "I must say that I'm disappointed with Jay Tabb's comments since leaving the club, and would like to put the record straight.

What Chris and I said to Tabby during pre-season was that there were a lot of players coming and going at that time, and that we would sort out a new contract for him once the season had started. What Tabby failed to disclose was that his agent was rude and disrespectful during those initial negotiations, but I was happy to speak with anyone else he recommended in order to resolve matters. When I asked him in November what the situation was, he told me he didn't want to sign a new contract and wanted to keep his options open.

That was obviously disappointing and we are sorry to see Jay go, but we had to listen to any sensible offers which came in, and we believe that the fee we received from Reading was too good to turn down, considering there are just over three months of the season left to go."
