Coventry City Chairman Ray Ranson has given his back to manager Chris Coleman.

The City boss has been underfire from a small section of supporters, mainly on radio phone ins, who have been calling for his head after the Sky Blues have won ten matches out of 37 in 2009 but the City boss has the backing of Chairman Ray Ranson.

Speaking to the CT, Mr Ranson said; "Chris is halfway through a long term contract. The word I constantly use around the club is "stability" both on and off the pitch. The reason we inherited a totally unbalanced squad was because of the short term tenure of previous managers.

"The time to judge Chris is when he has his own squad of players and we are not far away from that. We are three quarters of the way there in putting together a squad capable of competing at the top of the Championship.

"Chris' contract is up at the end of next season and we will see how we go, but I am fully aware of the difficulties he is working under with injuries and whatever, but he has been fantastic. It is a pleasure to work with him."
