Coventry City manager Aidy Boothroyd has praised young goalkeeper Michael Quirke who made his Football League debut for the Sky Blues this afternoon in their 2-2 draw at Watford.

Speaking about Coventry born Quirke, who is a product of the Coventry City Academy and the family bereavement that kept out Keiren Westwood and the injury to loanee keeper Iain Turner, Aidy Boothroyd told Sky Blue Player: "Michael did well today. He proved that he can do it in league football and that's important.

"We found about Keiren last night and I am the sort of manager who says that family comes first.

"I met Iain in a taxi just after midnight and we got him signed this morning but then he got the injury. We got him straight off to hospital and we'll get him back up to Everton tomorrow."
