PSB Group Statement Issue Mowbray Statement

Last updated : 18 May 2015 By PSB Group

PSB Group would like to place on record its delight and relief that Coventry City have managed to secure the services of Tony Mowbray as manager on a permanent contract.

We have been campaigning for this to take effect pretty much since he arrived at the club in a short term capacity and despite much uncertainty and doubt we are pleased that sense has prevailed and that the club now has a highly experienced manager with the ability and know how to finally kick start this football club into life.

We are not surprised that Tony could see the potential of Coventry City. The term is used far too loosely but we are indeed a "sleeping giant". Our football club should not be plying its trade in the third tier of English football.

In Tony Mowbray, we see a man who can not only get us out of League One into the Championship but then with the right backing ultimately have a serious attempt at the Premier League.

For that to be achieved though we now all need to pull together to get behind "OUR" Sky Blues. All we want is a football club that we can be proud of. The players, the owners and the fans now need to do everything they can to ensure we start to move in a positive direction.

Make no mistake we have not suddenly become  SISU lovers. Their tenure has been disastrous and their catalogue of mistakes too numerous to mention.

However we asked them to show some ambition. We urged them to back the new manager. We told them that they were at the last chance saloon and they needed to show some faith in the one man who can change our fortunes.

That they have done and we give them credit for that. We had previously talked about a season ticket boycott but that was as a last resort. We only intended putting our campaign machinery into place if the club were foolish enough to let Mowbray slip through their fingers. Thankfully they haven't , instead demonstrating some ambition at long last so we are prepared to back them.

All of our group will be purchasing season tickets in the next week or so and we would urge fellow supporters, if they feel able to afford it, to do likewise.

We would also ask members of NOPM or those of a similar viewpoint to consider giving the club one last chance. We appreciate that there are so many valid reasons not to support SISU but ultimately surely we all want the same thing, a successful Coventry City and by backing the team, getting as many people as possible up at the Ricoh, we give ourselves a chance of achieving that.

Rest assured this is the last chance we intend giving SISU. If they ever break their promises again or let us down in the way they have previously we will without hesitation walk away and no doubt so will many others. This however is not the time for either looking backwards or thinking negatively.

We see this as a new dawn. We see Tony Mowbray as the man to bring good times back to Coventry. The owners have made the first step, they now need to follow through with proper backing and  ambition and who knows OUR football club might just be on the way back !
