PSB Group Statement Following Tony Mowbray Resignation

Last updated : 29 September 2016 By CNS Sport
Today is another dark day to add to the long list for sky blue fans.
Tony Mowbray done all he could to pick this this club up off its knees, in the hope of getting it back on track.

Tony come in to replace Steven Pressley, with the club in decline occupying a relegation slot. He had one objective and that was to keep the club up, which is exactly what he did.
The following season his objective was to secure a play off place.
We finished 8th after a fantastic first half of the season but sadly dipped in form, never the less we still managed to come the closest we ever have to securing a play off place.

We at PSB are certain that had the club rewarded Tony Mowbray with a transfer kitty in January we would of secured promotion to the Championship, but in true SISU style SISU wanted everything for nothing.
Tony was left with no option but to feed off the scraps with the likes of Stephen Hunt, Henderson and Ramage coming in because they fitted into the SISU criteria of costing next to nothing. Again this is the attitude from SISU that continues to cost us greatly.

If there was ever to be a right time to gamble and the right manager to gamble on, giving him a bumper kitty to get us over the line promotion wise then that man was certainly Tony Mowbray and that time was definitely January. We were hitting a bad patch of form but still at the top end of the League One table with the transfer window wide open.

Obviously SISU only had one thing on there mind and that was flogging James Maddison. Again the fans and the management team were promised that this transfer deal was for the best of the club and the money would be reinvested.
Over the last few years we have sold some great players for millions of pounds but had very little reinvested.

The problem at this club is not the manager, it will always be SISU until they decide to go.

Tony Mowbray had to use money out of his own transfer budget to improve the first team training facilities at Ryton whilst SISU
were selling players for millions, that was scandalous.

We thank Tony Mowbray for his efforts, no one tried as hard as him to reshape this dying club from top to bottom. He also nearly pulled it off last season with some fantastic signings and great entertaining football played.

Tony leaves this club with his head held high and SISU should be kicking themselves for not supporting him nowhere near enough.
Thank you Tony, we are sad to see you go, all the best for the future
