PSB Group: End Of The Worst Season Any Of Us Can Remember

Last updated : 04 May 2015 By PSB Group

Finally we can all wave goodbye to the worse CCFC season that any of us at PSB can remember.

Some of us had our doubts that we would get over the line and stay up on the final day of the season but we are relieved, nothing else, that we secured safety ourselves and didn't just rely on results elsewhere.

However we are certainly not going to celebrate staying up in League One. We do however celebrate our amazing fans who once again at Crawley showed just what loyal supporters they are. God only knows what they'd be like if we had a team that actually looked like winning something.

Tony Mowbray

Now Tony seems to be the sort of manager that we have needed for a long long time. Unfortunately all we seem to have had is SISU "yes men". You might argue that Chris Coleman doesn't fit that category as he was the only one given financial backing by SISU but ultimately failed.

The only other manager we could say was not a "SISU yes man" was Marc Robins hence the reason he jumped ship so early into his reign. He failed to get the reassurances and answers that he wanted from our owners and promptly left. Who could blame him after what happened next.

Administration, a 10 point deduction , a transfer embargo and a move to Sixfields etc etc.

Tony seems a very honest man. He has already come out and criticised the club for not having a proper scouting system and player database in place.

He's also not been scared to say that a lot of things need to change at the football club. If he doesn't get what he wants to put this club back on the right road then there is no doubt about it , he will move on and go to a club that does share his ambition and no one at Coventry City could possibly blame him.

Our owners should fight tooth and nail to keep Tony at the club and listen to what he has to say about how he thinks the club should be moving forward. Tony is a proper footballing man he would know a hell of a lot more about football and what this club actually needs to move forward than all of these Sisu puppets put together.

Season after season Fisher, Sepalla and Waggott have proved themselves to be a damn disgrace to their profession.

Joy has openly admitted she doesn't know much about football and that she is not a football fan. There's no coincidence in that fact and the way our club is moving BACKWARDS. We recognise that lots of clubs are owned by business people who haven't got a clue about football but it's clearly about the people that they choose to put in charge.

Joy could do herself a huge favour if she appointed Tony Mowbray on a long term and back him to put in place his own strategy to take the club forward.

She should then dispense with the services of Tim Fisher and Steve Waggot and replace them with proper footballing people. People who know how to run a successful business but who also have a passion and understanding for the game.

SEASON TICKETS

Now we know the club have lowered season ticket prices but after what they have put us fans through over the years that's the very least they could have done.

We at PSB are not renewing our season tickets as of yet. We urge fans to sit tight and wait to see what happens in the coming weeks and months of summer.

Will the club for once show some ambition or can we expect  another pathetic depressing season like the one we have just suffered ?

What we mean by ambition is not neccessarily spending millions of pounds. We mean by signing Tony on a long term contract, by putting in place his blue print for success and then backing him in the transfer market with long term signings. We also need to reject all bids for our young stars. If we see all of this come together then we will acknowlege this as a sign of intent of the club striving for promotion. That is what we would call ambition and what we should be aiming for. Anything less then SISU can forget it.  We will boycott season ticket sales until some ambition is shown.

CONGRATULATIONS C.WILSON

Callum Wilson. What a breath of fresh air to football he is. He commited himself to Coventry City, singing a new contract despite interest from elsewhere for no doubt more money. He then didn't look back and banged in goal after goal with his footballing status rising each time he hit the net.

He was then subject of a few transfer bids. The two that were front runners and the ones that had bids accepted were Bournemouth and Norwich. Now let's not forget Norwich were a team that had just dropped down from the Premier League armed with a few million in there bank. So surely the best option for him would have been to join Norwich,  get a big wage and most likley be promoted into the premier league at the first time of asking. Despite this big interest Callum did not spit his dummy out Leon Clarke style. He instead got his head down and stayed untill he was told otherwise by club officials. That's the man he is plus he is a Cov City boy through and through.

It was widely reported that Norwich offered Callum up to twice as much money as Bournemouth but had no guarantees of being first choice striker there. Bournemouth offered him less money but told him he was their main striker and guaranteed to play 1st team football in a higher league.

Most young men would have snapped up the higher money offer at Norwich but instead Callum made a proper footballing decision and chose Bournemouth and boy did he make the right move. He will now reap the rewards in the Premier League next season and no doubt lots of money will come his way too with bonuses and an improved contract.

It just goes to show if you take a pragmatic long term view you often end up better off.

Instead of choosing the short term option for a quick buck maybe SISU should take a leaf out of Callum Wilson's book and maybe they might just get somewhere.

Well done Callum Wilson. Your success is fully deserved. Enjoy the Premier League.
