PSB Group Back Move To The Butts

Last updated : 19 May 2016 By PSB Group
So another season is over. A season that offered hope and some great memories even if it did finish in ultimate disappointment.
However whilst it would be nice to be able to reflect on our first decent season. Sadly it seems that SISU will again be stealing all the headlines in what should be a close season where we are talking about the progress being made on the field by Tony Mowbray & co.
Instead all the talk again is about SISU and it's seemingly never ending appearances in pointless money draining court cases.
We can't be the only ones who are starting to lose count of how many appeals have now been lodged. Frustratingly there is now talk of yet another day in court, this time via the European appeal process.
Despite this war between Coventry City Council and SISU now running into several million pounds in terms of court fees and the lost revenue whilst engaged in the totally unnecessary and ultimately disastrous move to Sixfields.
These unfit owners seem hellbent on continuing to waste time and money on a lost court case instead of investing into the playing side, Why?
We have a fantastic management duo in Tony Mowbray and Mark Venus and let's face it we are lucky to have them.
However their efforts are currently being wasted in the Coventry City hot seat.
They need to be unshackled and backed to the hilt instead of being made to work on a shoestring.
We are not talking about millions but we say to SISU instead of wasting money on court cases that have no chance of success why not speculate some cash on your asset.
Why not give these guys some proper support to get us out of this division?
If you owned a ferrari and then locked it away in the garage all summer what would be the point of that ?
What would be the the point in owning one if your not going to use it?
It's the same with our management team. We are only realizing a small percentage of the huge potential that Tony and Mark have. They are currently working with their hands tied. SISU need to use these men properly so as to fullfil their potential and that of Coventry City and allow us a realistic chance to be serious promotion contenders.
In fact we would go as far as to say that with the right backing promotion would only be a matter of time in coming.
We simply ask why can't they be given a fair chunk of the James Maddison transfer money?
That's not money that SISU have put into the club. That's money that was generated by the footballing side of the operation and therefore should be spent on strengthening the team.
If it isn't then what is the point? John Fleck and now Joe Cole have both said publicly what the majority of us fans have been saying for years. Simply and unequivocally "Back the manager!
The players know it, the management team know it. The fans definitely know it, instead SISU keep trotting out the line that the club needs to be a self efficient club. We get that.
Businesses need to be run properly with good management working within parameters. Football however is not like any other business as SISU have already found out to their cost. It has a heart and a soul and it is surrounded by people who actually care about it. Sometimes if something is worth believing in, its worth speculating in.
The only way this club will ever prosper again. The only way that SISU will ever achieve their dream and make some money out of our club is to properly invest in the playing side. Forget the smokescreen of FFP, the owners can gift money to the club, not to fritter away stupidly but given to football people with the ability to make good decisions and the return will come in spades.
Do SISU genuinely believe that us city fans are excited that we are a self sufficient League one club with no ambition to be any higher?
A club that continues to survive on other clubs cast offs and loan players? We don't think so.
If we were a self sufficient Premier League club then we'd happily accept that state of affairs. This however is League One. If we don't back Tony Mowbray and Mark Venus now then we may never ever return to the top league. They too will move on to bigger and better things with out Coventry City.
JANUARY
January was a huge month for the Sky Blues. We were for the first time in years sitting at the top end of the table but our form had taken a bad turn.
Surely January with the transfer window open was the time for our owners to give Mowbray that extra well deserved vital bit of investment to strengthen the team to push us over that finish line? Sadly not, instead our owners were too busy eyeing up the pound signs.
They left it until the very last minute of deadline day to flog our star player for a undisclosed fee involving numerous adds on that will probably never come to fruition.
Meanwhile Tony and Mark had to make do with free transfer scrap that no one else wanted. Deadwood players at the end of their careers who were never going to strengthen our squad.
Any other club in that position with just a modicum of ambition to go up to the next level would have of resisted the sale of James Maddison whilst giving Mowbray a transfer kitty big enough to get at least two decent players that could not only help get us up but also do a job for us next year in the Championship.
To take the worst case scenario they could have sold James Maddison at the start of January and then provided Tony Mowbray with a healthy kitty to strengthen the squad that month.
We feel sure that SISU knew exactly what they were doing. That's why James was sold with no time whatsoever remaining in the transfer window.
Will Tony see any of that money in the summer? What do you think?
 POSSIBLE BUTTS MOVE
We at PSB firmly believe that if city went ahead with there proposed plans to ground share with CRFC owning a split stake in a stadium that was extended to 25,000, then this would be the best possible way forward for CCFC to secure there long term future.
We will never agree with the sale of the Ricoh arena to the Wasps by the Coventry City Council. Or forgive SISU for there disgraceful tactics trying to distress ACL into a cheap sale.
Moving forward CCFC have no secure future on a rent deal at the Ricoh with landlords Wasps. We urge the council and SISU to finally put this sad regrettable war behind them.
Do what's best for the long suffering sky blue fans by doing all they can to make this move happen to help secure the long term future of the sky blues.
Not only would Coventry be attractable to possible future investors, they would also be generating income on non match day's which is impossible at the Ricoh Arena.
It wouldn't just be great for CCFC and CRFC, it would be fantastic for the city as a whole and a large number of local businesses in and around the City Centre.
We urge SISU to press forward with this move but as in any case actions speaker louder than words. We would also urge the Coventry City Council to forget this tiring dispute with SISU and push forward these plans for the long suffering city fans and for the good that it will do for that part of the city.
For City fans that are skeptical about such plans. We would say to you 'think about the long term future of the club and what this could mean moving forward with a stake in a stadium again. Generating extra revenue that we have no access to now on a rent deal at the Ricoh Arena.
Generating non match day revenue 7 days a week has to be a huge positive. Remember the Ricoh is a ground that will always be owned by the Wasps.
The Ricoh is gone now, it's sadly time to move on for the good of the club. We currently own 0% of the Ricoh arena. Owning 50% of a stadium within the city's perimeter has to be a huge step forward and our only option if we want to compete and push forward financially.
More revenue will mean bigger transfer budgets. It's a no brainer for us at PSB.
We believe if we all had a choice out of the Ricoh Arena or The hugely missed Highfield Rd that the vast majority would choose Highfield Rd. well this would be as close as you could get to that ground we all love and miss. The location would be fantastic. The match day atmosphere would also be greatly improved no doubt.
This is a positive move in our eyes so as fans we should all welcome this move and back it all the way. Regards PSB
