PSB Group - Oldham & The Ricoh Hoodoo

Last updated : 20 April 2015 By Covsupport News Service

It's become a case of déjà vu in recent times with Coventry City repeatedly coming away from the Ricoh having failed to secure maximum points. Points which most of us would surely agree we fully deserved.

Leyton Orient scored from nothing and left with the full three points albeit undeserved and that looked set to happen again with Oldham.

However we once again saw how important big Reda can be for us as he popped up late on with a bullet header to send us all home feeling a little better about ourselves after it looked set to be another one of them frustrating Ricoh Arena nights. As we said last week it would be well worth the risk to get him tied down on a 12 month contract next year. If he could play the majority of games for us next season then theres little doubt we would keep a lot more clean sheets and even score more goals Ultimately collecting a lot more points in the process.

We are glad that Tony Mowbray also shares these thoughts as he mentioned earlier on in the week. However he also mentioned that City will have a battle on their hands as other teams step up their interest in a player, who although very injury prone, can make a big difference when he does play. We await to see how this one pans out.

BRISTOL CITY

Few would have expected anything other than a defeat in this game. As it turned out however we drew and could have actually won it. Most of our group were at Ashton Gate and were all in agreement that this ranks as one of the best performances we've seen this season. Particularly solid in defence we saw some real signs of encouragement.

AMBITION

That brings us on nicely to the subject of just how ambitious our owners actually are.

Few can seriously argue that for some time now there has been a distinct lack of anything approaching serious ambition. We of course are not referring to us as fans. We mean our owners.

They seem to pride themselves on changing the culture at Coventry City. They said when they took over that the club was known as 'comfy Coventry' meaning that they had taken over a club with players and staff on big contracts who were seemingly just here for their sizeable pay packets and had no real interest or passion for the club itself. That may of course have been true. We would however ask the question. What can we expect for next season. The same as this current one maybe 'Loan Coventry' ?

We want the owners to match the fans ambitions. We don't just want to be a club that gives other clubs youth players some football experience and that be it.

Where's the excitement in that for City fans?

We can remember the days when thousands of city fans walked up to the ground proud to be wearing their Sky Blues shirt with their favourite star players name on the back. If you were a young up and coming city fan now whose name would you have on your back ?

Let's face it there are no star players, no out and out goal scorers, there's no one that's really exciting to watch. What we do have however are endless amounts of loan players each season. It really is a sad state of affairs at Coventry City right now.

Our owners lack of ambition is a huge stumbling block to our club moving forward.

It has nothing to do with us not owning our own stadium. Many clubs don't own their own stadium and still manage to prosper.

SISU have shown an obscene lack of ambition. If you are not ambitious then you won't go any further, be that work, business or any other walk of life. It's particular true in football.

Things have to change this summer. We as fans need to see a real demonstration of intent from our owners as soon as this current season is over. Forget talk of this fictional new ground and just concentrate on building our own young exciting squad. We need a team that we can call our own. A team to get excited about. A team we can be proud of !

There is nothing exciting about watching a team full of players that belong to other clubs.
PSBG are sick of hearing that SISU pay good money to get decent loan players in. Why not pay decent money to bring your own players in and watch them develop into stars with Coventry City.

We as long suffering Sky Blues fans are not asking for a lot. We are not asking for a new ground. We are not asking for millions to be spent on players. All we are asking is for our owners to demonstrate their ambition for the first time in their tenure.

This summer SISU simply have to win back the disappearing fans. They also have to enticie the new generation of fans to the Ricoh to support City both next season and beyond.

So we ask, will SISU put their money where their mouth is next season and have a real go at it or will thing's just remain the same with a team full of loan signings and yet more promises of a new land deal. If it's the latter then they may aswell forget it!

We at PSBG will not be renewing our season tickets until we are convinced that SISU have the right intentions on moving this club forward with the development of a competitive football team full of permanent signings.

This season has been poor. In fact it's been appalling, It's one to forget about very quickly.

CREWE LAST HOME GAME OF 14/15 SEASON

Crewe at home should be a game where we comfortably collect the full three points but the same could have been said of both Oldham and Leyton Orient so who knows what result we will get.

We hope as many fans as possible can pack the stands out on the cheap ticket deal being offered for this game to show the owners and players what potential the club does have. It would be nice to show Tony Mowbray that we do have fans that care and who will back him next season if he stays with the backing from our owners.

As always on the last home game of the season the city players will do their annual lap of honour.

Let's cheer the boys to victory then during the lap of honour we ask you to get the message across to the clubs owners in the form of banners and also in purely vocal terms that we will not come back for another season like this. We will not buy season tickets until we see investment in a team that is capable of challenging for promotion next season.

This will be our last chance to make our voices heard on a matchday so we urge everyone to embrace this idea. We are simply calling for fans to get their message across on Saturday after the final whistle. Let's sit tight and see what SISU plan for next season before we commit to another season of dross. No one wants to have to boycott but if SISU are not prepared to change their own strategy as to how to move the club forward then PSBG believes that we as fans need to bite the bullet and go ahead with a Season Ticket boycott.

However the ball is now firmly in SISU's court. We urge them to break the habit of a lifetime...and do the right thing !

PSB STATEMENT

Later this week our group will release a statement detailing our plan as to what we believe SISU should be doing to move the club forward next season.
