At a time when the profile of ladies football has never been higher and with the owners of Coventry City seemingly on a mission to improve their image amongst supporters we at PSB are both frustrated and dismayed at the clubs latest own goal.
The ladies representing Coventry on the football field should be Coventry City Ladies not Coventry United Ladies.
For those running Coventry City to allow this to happen is a disgrace.
We have it on good authority from enough reliable sources that the ladies feel badly let down by CCFC. At a time when they should have been encouraged and established as an integral part of the clubs fabric they have been largely ignored with repeated E Mails to the clubs chief executive receiving no response. That is simply not good enough.
Congratulations to Coventry United for stepping in and showing the support our ladies need and deserve but it should never have come to this.
We wish the new Coventry United ladies team all the very best for the new season but we have to say the way this has been handled by Steve Waggott and his team leaves a very bad taste in the mouth.
The club clearly still has an awful lot to learn !
